Your level
To help you get an idea of your level, here below is an overview of the skills you need to have in order to belong to the different levels. (Based on the CEFR - Common European Framework of Reference - competency framework)

Level A1
People belonging to this level are able to
​
Understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of concrete needs
Introduce him/herself and others and ask questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, who he/she knows and what he/she owns
Introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, who he/she knows and what he/she owns. - and can answer the same type of questions
Communicate in a simple way if the other person speaks slowly and clearly and is cooperative
Level A2
People belonging to this level are able to
​
Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (very basic personal and family information, shopping, immediate environment, work, etc.)
Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters
​
Describe in simple terms his/her background, immediate environment and matters that correspond to immediate needs
Level B1
People belonging to this level are able to
​
Understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc
Deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken
Produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest
Describe events, experiences and dreams, hopes and ambitions, and briefly give reasons and explanations for plans and actions, projects or ideas
Level B2
People belonging to this level are able to
Understand the essential content of concrete and abstract topics in complex text, including a technical discussion in his/her field
Communicate with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party
Express him/herself clearly and in detail on a wide range of subjects, express an opinion on a topical issue and explain the advantages and disadvantages of various options
Level C1
People belonging to this level are able to
Understand long and demanding texts and grasp implicit meanings

Express themselves spontaneously and fluently without much searching for words
​
Use language effectively and flexibly in social, professional and academic life
​
Express themselves on complex subjects in a clear and well-structured manner and demonstrate control of the linguistic tools of organization, articulation and cohesion of discourse
Level C2
People belonging to this level are able to
​
Understand with ease virtually everything heard or read
​
Reconstruct facts and arguments from a variety of written and spoken sources, summarizing them in a coherent way
Express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, and make fine distinctions in the meaning of complex subjects
